Server Version#: Version 1.15.2.793
Player Version#: not sure where to find this (I installed it on 22-Mar-2019)
First, I am a LINUX noob. This is really the first time I’m trying to work with Linux, so please forgive me for being dense.
I have installed Linux and it appears that is is working with my Windows Network.
I can see my Buffalo NAS server and can see (and play) my media files (double-click on a movie and it plays).
I have the Plex Server installed. It seems to be working (see vers. above).
How do I map my Media folders (on the NAS) to my Plex server?
- I tried to use the Plex interface to Browse to the folders, but don’t see my NAS at all, or the folders.
Can anyone give a poor noob a hand?

Of particular interest to this first task is mounting your NAS media.
Being on Linux, NFS is the native network. Your Buffalo should support NFS. It’s better, faster, and easier if you use it.
In here, I show both use cases, I suggest NFS first if possible, SMB last.
You will likely need install package nfs-common (debian/ubuntu does not include the NFS client natively… which is rude)
Thank you for the reply. I will look through that material. Linux is definitely NOT user friendly and more than once I’ve thought about ditching it to go back to Win10. But I’m trying to plow ahead and learn how to do this. So, I appreciate your feedback.
However, when I am in Linux I can click on “Other Places” in the file browser and the NAS opens right up. I can see all the files and even play the movies (double-click and it plays). I just have no idea how to get the Plex server to see them.
As I said, I will read through the material you sent, but I’m wondering one thing in particular: Do I need to set Plex to using the MediaShare user account I created on the NAS? I read in one note that Plex, by default, tries to access things through a User called Plex.
Oh well, I’ll read through those links/topics later and see what I can learn.
Oh, and I cannot/will not be changing the media server (it’s on a LinkSys NAS running a 12TB RAID (9 TB usable). It is set up and running fine and I have no interest in doing anything that could mess it up).
