List of devices and plex clients combinations that support 4K HDR direct streams/plays from Plex?

As the subject suggests. I’m looking for a list of devices that support 4K HDR content from Plex.

I don’t see an existing list anywhere.

If I had my druthers, I’m specifically looking for a device/client combination that supports (in order of priority)

  1. 4K
  2. HDR (10-bit)
  3. Dolby Atmos
  4. DTS

Shield TV.
Windows 10 HTPC running PMP. (Don’t know about Atmos or not)

That’s it?

No Roku or FireTV or Xbox? All of those have 4K and HDR versions

I play 4K HDR content from remote Plex server on LG TV with 3rd party app called XPlay.
It’s paid app but so far it was the best option if one has LG 4K TV. Ticks all 4 boxes, 4K, HDR, ATMOS and DTS formats go as direct play. It does support multi audio in a file also.

I recently purchased a LG TV running webOS 3.5, I was unable to get any 4K HDR H265 content to Direct Play via either the Plex app or the 3rd party app XPlay it alway transcoded to H264 1080P. The only way I could get 4K HDR H265 content to Direct Play was to use the DLNA via the LG video app.

@binia can you confirm you were getting 4K HDR playing via Direct play to XPlay or Plex app on your LG TV?

It will not pass through HD audio though as that is an ARC limitation. I know the LG has the ability to transcode Dolby True HD Atmos to DD+ Atmos on the fly. Is this what you are seeing with XPlay?

Shield is probably the best mainstream and simplest option that does what you want. It’s what I use for similar requirements.
HTPC wasn’t worth the hassle for me. Only issue is the colorspace issue so you have to manually change it depending on content. Nvidia supposedly working on fix.

The Vero 4K also appears to be a very good option and I wonder if I should have gone that route sometimes. It runs Kodi and not a native Plex client but you can use the official Plex to Kodi add-on which is essentially is a full fledged Plex client within Kodi but uses Kodi video player so more tweakable and plays everything. The Vero 4K reportedly handles all video and HD audio properly without having to manually change anything.

Shield with SPMC client.
Can handle anything you throw at it.

I can confirm also.
Playing 4K direct stream from server to LG 2017 OLED through XPLAY app. Last webOS version.
