"List of IP adresses without auth" not working

My list of IP adresses which do not need auth looks like this:

192.168.1.2,192.168.1.3,192.168.1.60

When launching Plex Media Player on the PC wich ends with 1.3 it wants me to log in anyways.
Why isn’t it working?

Server “connected” or “not connected” doesn’t make a difference.
Visiting my plex server web interfacer via Chrome, Firefox or something else from one of these 3 PCs works perfect and I don’t need to type in mail or password.

Claiming this server will associate it with your Plex account.
This helps your devices find each other and helps keep your media safe.
What Plex wants to “keep safe”? My media is on my server harddrive.

Why isn’t it just possible to completely disable login to plex.tv ?

The setting is intended for older televisions and devices which do not support authentication methods.
All Plex apps do support authentication.

Do you mean the second quote-option?
If so, ok I understand.

But why Plex Media Player wants me to auth even with my IP being whitelisted? On my browser everything is working fine (no auth) but PMP wants me to auth.

I mean. This has something to do with data privacy. My plex server is on my local NAS and I want it stays local. I don’t want to get connected from outside.

IP whitelisting is from the server only.

The application (PMP, iOS, Android, etc) is different. All Plex apps require you sign-in. This is how they are designed.

Remote Access to your server is only enabled if you want it.
All communication from PMS <-> Plex.tv uses HTTPS and is encrypted.

If you want total privacy, then do not use Plex because Plex must query the internet databases for the posters .

I just don’t want it communicates with plex.tv for logging in.

I want to use it kind of offline. When not having an internet connection I could not use plex because of this forced log in mess. On the other hand: does your quote above means Apps like … executables and such? What about Plex Web GUI. Does this count as App?

Plex doesn’t work that way. You need to sign in.

If this is against your wishes then perhaps Plex isn’t for you.

Currently my server isn’t connected neither my plex account (web gui on Firefox).
I even blocked all plex domains for testing purposes in Firefox. I can still access the Web GUI.

Are you sure login is needed? But one good question: why login is absolutely needed? It can’t be for security purposes only. Because people who want to use a Plex server completely offline in a LAN only do not need to login.

To your last sentence: I would use something else instantly but, to be honest, every other big media web gui server thingies just look totally bad.

Plex is what it is. Either you accept the sign-in and continue on or you find another solution.
I cannot change what is.

What a very unfriendly answer to a completely justified question.

You can not just shut people up, that criticise where Plex is going with it’s options. What if you want to use your PMS offline somewhere? Sometimes your internet-connection maybe off, still your files are here and your local computer with PMS on it is running … What if you wanna use Plex in a camper, maybe you downloaded all your posters at home and then take Plex for a ride, without the internet-connection?

As a lifetime and longtime PlexPass member me too, I am very unhappy about the change of the login.
Yes, Plex has to evolve, but not at all costs.

Many of us have presented that very same argument long ago (4+ years ago).
It hasn’t changed and unfortunately isn’t likely to change.
I’m sorry but I truly identify with it but there is absolutely nothing which I can do (we’ve tried).

this is completely nuts from a customer service perspective. If you don’t listen to your user-base, we will warn people off of your service, the company will lose revenue, and will die… don’t pull a Research-In-Motion/Blackberry debacle.
