List of media that has been played or way to determine if it has been played

Server Version#:plexmediaserver_1.18.3.2156-349e9837e_amd64
Player Version#:FireTV

My inexperience is showing since I am relative newbie…
While using the Media Player is there a way to determine if a particular media file (movie) has been viewed already?
Is there a way to set/change the status of a movie relative to having been seen while in the Media Player?

There is. Navigate to the library in which you’re interested and change the first filter to “Unplayed.”

To change an item’s played/unplayed status, hover over its poster with your mouse, click the vertical ellipsis at the lower-right, and select “Mark as Played” or “Mark as Unplayed,” as desired.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Your answer was helpful.

I have a lot of movies and TV episodes on my NAS which acts as the PLEX Media Server and is accessed via the PLEX Server interface with a computer and a browser. Now I can mark played/unplayed when at the PMS interface using the PMS browser interface.

I failed to explain that what I was looking for was the same capability at the player interface while I am sitting in my easy chair in front of the TV deciding what I should watch.

I note that the Player I/F provides some notion of what is not played but not the complete list. In my case there are many movies that are not shown. Seems that the list is limited to a one line display – about 10 items or so.

Now I know how I can view the status on the PMS so like everything I want more – the same capability at the Player interface.

Is that capability available on the Player interface??

Yes, you can apply filters to the big screen interface as well. When viewing a library, select the “Library” tab at the top of the screen. From there, select the “All” filter and set it to “Unplayed.” There’s some more general information here about navigating the big screen interface:

Have a look at the Library section.

Thank you, thank you!!

Armed with the certain knowledge that what I wanted was possible, I spent more time mousing around with the Fire TV interface.

The Fire TV GUI is OK, not great. Finally after stumbling around a bunch I found the ‘secret’ to setting the filter to appropriate values.

WOW!! Lots of options and capability if you understand how to get to them!!

Thanks again
