I am a PLEX newbie. At this point I have a variety of media info in my PLEX server.
Movies are in a folder called “Movie”
TV Shows are in a folder called “TV Media”
With the help of generous contributors I now have the various files named appropriately – especially so for the TV Media that has several seasons and many episodes within the seasons.
Since Movie are different than TV Media my expectation was that after a type was selected on the left panel the display on the right panel would be limited to that subset of media. Instead it seems to contain a mixture of both the Movie and TV Media info. Is this normal or do I have some setting incorrectly set?
I am able to set a ‘played’ property for a particular item in the PLEX MS but there seems no way to see that value when I am using the client. Is this normal or do I have some setting incorrectly set?
When I am in the PLEX MS and select Movies I see a mixture of both Movies and items from the TV Media. Some of the TV items are characterized as ‘recently added movies’. My expectation was that the TV Shows would be separate but they seemed to be listed based on when the media was introduced to the PS.
I have several movie titles that I have viewed. When I look at their played status in the PS it displays a “Nothing to be seen here” message. Is there a way to set the ‘played’ status for a movie item?
Is there a way to display only items that I have not viewed on the client side?
The items in the TV Media have many episodes that are considered ‘unplayed’ yet they have been played. Is there a way to set the played/unplayed attribute?
The Movie library should point only to the “Movie” folder.
The TV library should point only to the “TV Media” folder.
If you make any changes, re-scan the library, then empty the trash for the library.
Perform a bit of server maintenance:
In Plex Web, mouse over your server name, click on the three vertical dots to the right, mouse over Manage Server
Click on Empty Trash
Click on Clean Bundles
Click on Optimize Database
This should clear out any incorrect information in the Plex database.
If things are set & functioning correctly, when you select the Movies library you should see only movies, and only TV shows when the TV show library is selected.
Note that you may see a mix when on the Home page, such as “Recently Added Movies,” “Recently Added TV Shows,” etc.
Thank you for your reply.
To be clear the following is the directory path to Movies and TV stuff.
/data/PLEX–Media/Movies Media
/data/PLEX–Media/TV Media
I checked and then did a rescan and emptied the trash for each library as instructed. Some items got better.
FireTV is the client, Netgear NAS is the PS.
I do not know what Plex Web is so I could not follow the instructions. Please explain wha I should be looking for.
Several items are shown as unplayed in the list yet they have been played.
• Is there a way to see/select on the ‘played’ property for a particular item in the PLEX client?
• When I look at an item’s played status it sometimes displays a “Nothing to be seen here” message. Is there a way to set the ‘played’ or ‘unplayed’ status for a movie/TV item?
• Is there a way to display only items that I have not viewed while in the client mode?
