Movies not marked as played

Server Version#: Version 1.22.3.4392 on Netgear ReadyNAS
Player Version#: Amazon Cube via internal LAN

We have a modest number of movie titles in the library – about 220.
When a title is watched, and I let all the movie play including the end of movie credits and PLEX essentially stops, the movie is not marked as played. Other movies that I know have been watched are not marked as played.

There must be some issue I do not understand with marking titles as played or not played.

I suppose we could go through one time and manually mark them as played but the concern is that that designation will not stick.

Any help would be appreciated on this matter.

No issues with write-access to the library on the NAS? Can you edit stuff, mark stuff as watched manually and so on from the Amazon player?

Also double check so that you don’t have the item streaming/paused from somewhere else.

Thank you lassemahn for taking the time to reply

This issue has been present for a while but I have ignored it until my wife complained.

There is an internal LAN with a fairly robust Netgear NAS with PEX installed. That environment has been operational for almost 13 months. Media content is presented well, it is just the issue with historical viewing and played/unplayed status that seems not operational.

The PLEX media server serves our household with one actual TV. That TV has an Amazon cube attached which apparently acts as the PLEX client. There are no streaming users.

Checking the NAS itself all users have read/write access. A good suggestion but a dead end.

I have verified that any change prompted by the client access (Amazon Cube) does not seem to stick at all. These changes relate to played/unplayed status for movies and data regarding the content viewed history for movies.

Using the PLEX Server browser based interface on the NAS allows me to toggle the played/unplayed status. That status seems to stick.

Using the PLEX Server browser based interface to play music, the play history seems to be updated.

If I had to guess, my notion is that the Amazon Cube device has issues working with the PLEX Server but I do not know how.

It would be nice if a PLEX expert would weigh in.

After lots of discussion with Amazon, the ‘fix’ was to uninstall and reinstall PLEX on the Fire Cube.

As far as I can tell that worked. My vote goes Amazon as the responsible party.
