There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to switch channels entering the channel number using a remote or keyboard. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Type in the channel numbers+return button enable

When using a universal remote is it possible to make the Return (to last channel) work? More importantly type in the channel numbers? One of the main reasons why i can’t cut the cord because my wife would rather type in the channels she likes.
