Live TV and DVR – Now out of Beta

s7 edge and just getting the the orange spinner.

I am using PMS 1.7.5…

In the plex app on the droid i would:

  1. turn off automatically adjust quality in the “quality” settings.
  2. Use the android media player and untick all of the device supports bla bla bla sound settings in the “player” section under advanced.

Let me know if that works for you.

1.8x PMS here, latest Android - followed your suggestions - nada for PLEX Live TV. HDHR works - I notice it uses Media Player and Plex defaults to Exoplayer2. tried all the player options/combos and it either hangs or quits.

Roll back the server version to 1.7.5 and you are set… no time-shift(pause,ff and rewind) with this PMS version though.

I am unsure of how time shifting works/is supposed to work. It seems as though I can watch a live channel and pause/rewind/skip forward. What I would like to do though is watch a currently recording program from the beginning. It seems the only way for me to get this functionality would be to start playing a channel, pause it, and then start playing it when I am ready to watch. This seems counter-intuitive. Is there any way for me to do what I am looking to do?

This is functionality that has not been implemented yet, but Plex has indicated in other posts that it is on their roadmap. It is definitely the missing piece to full live TV/DVR functionality.

Recorded tv plays back just fine on my s7, but it will not watch live. I tried changing the player and it just crashes.

I just upgraded PMS to 1.8 and am getting no live on android (nexus 5x). App version is 6.2.1 and no updated show in the google play store. Is there a “plexpass” way to get the app?

Open the Google play store, touch the hamburger(top left three lines), select my apps, let it search and then install the update it finds.

What is the Android working Version ? … my Version in play store is 6.2.1.1036. And is not showing Live TV. is there an APK I can sideload ?

6.3

The play store shows it as 6.2 but when I went the route in my previous post it found and updated the app for me to 6.3

No update available only 6.2 … So none of my Android devices can do liveTV … probably has not hit my playstore yet… I believe different areas connect to different playstore servers. I would like an APK if possible.

Hmmm are you signed in on the android’s plex app as the plex pass user?
If so, it must not have made it to your play store yet as you have stated.

That’s how I usually do it (hamburger…ha, hadn’t heard that one). Still, no joy…

Perhaps Android 7.2.1 is too new?

Sorry, nexus line is on 7.1.2. Numeric dyslexia or something… Still, no update in the store after restart, etc.

Yep that’s the missing piece for me. I want to start watching a show that’s currently recording and catch up. Due to that I’m still using Emby to handle my TV recording as well as to watch shows that are currently recording. In due time I’m sure.
