Live TV and Nvidia Shield (UK)

Based in the UK, and have got PMS running on Nvidia Shield, and am considering going down the Live TV/DVR route. Would remove the need for a separate DVR. From a scan over some forum posts, I understand that I can use either the HDHomeRun or Hauppauge (with the latter being a bit cheaper) to do this. However, I’m considering a few potential problems…

  1. Will I be able to pick up and transcode HD channels? I think they might be protected some way? Would I be able to play HD recordings on iOS and Xbox One? It’s not a deal breaker, but currently prefer to record/watch in HD where channels are available.
  2. If I were to go for the Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD, with the 2 USB ports being so close together on the Shield, and needing one port for my HDD, I’m thinking I might need to get a USB extender for the tuner?

I’m sure I can probably think of some other potential issues/questions further down the line, but those are the key ones for now. Appreciate any help.
