I live in the UK, Do I have to have a HD HomeRun box attached to the NVIDIA to record live TV?

I am confused that I can download movies but unable to record say football matches directly onto my NVDIA internal or external storage?
If I watch u-tube on this subject, it appears you have to purchase a HD HomeRun box to enable watching/recording Live TV? but I can watch live TV say Football matches but can I record?
In an ideal world that would include forward planning for recording whatever just like the movies?
Last question, is there a better way to do this for UK users?
Thanks and confused.
Clive

If you want to record broadcast TV (not some streaming service providing you with your football games), then yes, you need a tuner and most likely an antenna to receive those broadcasts; alternatively, unencrypted cable channels will also work with the right tuner.

Yes. But don’t rely on Plex for DVR and playback - it can’t handle UK HD broadcasts properly (though SD is fine).

Sounds like you are watching through kodi or similar at the min. Plex DVR will let you record freeview channels from your aerial so no luck in recording Sky Sports or BT Sports.

Plex does seem to struggle with the the HD Freeview channels. I’m guessing down to the interlaced video and audio format, on my Shield I can watch live tv ok but recordings won’t play properly without transcoding.

I have a Hauppauge HD PVR which my sons used to use to record on XBOX 360 etc.
Is it possible to use this please? Apparently it can record in H264 format…

If its listed here then it will work:

Best to have a look through the FAQ and watch some videos on youtube on how it all works to get an understanding of what you need to do.
