This issue is STILL occurring with live tv and with my DVR recordings. Watching my dvr recordings I will have portions of the program skip segments (which causes my chromecast to reboot) pixelation etc. Can some from PLEX please provide an update on their progress on fixing this very frustrating issue? The last employee I was working with was DaveBinM. Dave can you comment on progress with this issue? Are there other members still experiencing this issue as well?
Do your recordings playback without issues with VLC or other non-Plex players?
(This is one of the questions that @DaveBinM asked you that I don’t believe you answered.)
No, the issues exist in vlc and other players as well. Thanks for following up.
What tuners are you using?
What OS is your PMS installed on?
Thanks!
Hdhomerun quad tuner installed on Centos 7.7 with quad core cpu.
Can you use the HDHR application to view Live TV and report back on the video quality? At this point it’s important to determine you’ve got good signal strength, etc…
My apologies, I copied the title of this thread from the previous one that someone else started, so I don’t see the issues with Live Tv, more so with the dvr recordings.
If the issue exists during playback of recorded shows with other video players, then signal strength is still a suspect.
Can you confirm that the same stations that have recording issues have no issues during live tv in Plex?
No issues during live TV. And the issues happens on very strong and clear stations. This is an issue Plex is aware of. Dave mentioned it in the other thread. It seems like they were tracking the issue and I wanted to know if they are still following up on it and if it’s set to fixed.
@DaveBinM any thoughts?
I’ll need a little more context around which thread the other one was.
Yours and his posts can be found throughout this thread:
Are you able to get some logs from PMS, and a sample?
- Start a direct .ts sample from the tuner. You can do this by using a command such as:
curl http://tunerip:port/auto/channel > /users/outputpath/plexSamples/samplefile.ts
(You can copy the tuner URL bit from your logs, if it helps) - Start a recording in PMS of a problematic channel
- Cancel the recording after a minute or so
- Stop the direct capture from the tuner
- Download the complete logs from the server
- Zip up the logs, the direct sample from the tuner, and the recording from PMS, and post them here (tag me to make sure I see them), or you can DM me
I’ll work on this tomorrow and get those logs to you. Thank you for looking into this, as the DVR function is unusable as it is now.
Dave,
How can I DM you directly? I can do a new recording, but the issue is so intermittent it could or could not present itself in that short timespan. I do have a few shows where the issue shoes up right away (where it causes the Chromecast to reboot).
Click on my name, and it’ll give you the option message.
Here you go. I didn’t notice any pixelation etc, but let me know. I want to do what I can to help resolve this issue. Thank you.

darcilicious DaveBinM Did the logs help with troubleshooting the issue? Let me know, as I would be more than happy to help with other things you may need. Do you have an update?
Any update to this? I too have stuttering/buffering/pixelation at times during the day when live tv is on.
Yes this is still going on, even with the newer update. Can a Plex team member please respond with an update or if you need another test?
