Been using Plex for a while now, but just recently started using the Live TV/DVR features. I’m running the latest version of Plex Server and using an HD Homerun Connect Duo for my tuner. I’m able to record shows just fine, but my problem is when I try to watch them. It’s very choppy when trying to ‘fast forward’, or skip commercials using the remote on my Apple TV. Sometimes, it will just spin forever and never load the show. Watching Live TV is non-existent as well…it just spins on a black screen and never comes up. Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong, or how to fix these issues?
The Apple TV is not able to display mpeg2 video (broadcast tv format) without transcoding the video into a compatible format (h.264). And it sounds like the hardware you have PMS installed is not capable of transcoding on the fly.
