When select to record a tv show on the Live TV & DVR Record option Add to Library it only allows me to select the Movie folder I have on the Hard Drive.
Yes I also have a folder called TV Shows on the Hard Drive as well.
Plex Server is running on Windows 10 Pro Build 1909. Two Hard Drives 12 gig Ram.
Why does the record option not show the second folder on the hard drive?
If you are attempting to record a TV show, you’ll need to have a TV Shows library to record to. That library should be configured to point to your TV Shows folder on the hard disk.
The pleg server is running on this system which has to hard drivers. Plex server is installed on the first drive and then I add two folders on the second drive.
When in plex on the Live TV & DVR and I am looking at the TV guide and I select record it only give me a record option for the movies folder which is on the second driver and the TV Show folder is also on the second drive.
Both these folder where add in Plex under management > Libraries - add library.
Is the movie folder in a Plex movie library? And is the TV shows folder in a Plex TV shows library? These are two separate kinds of Libraries and each require their own separate folders.
It seems like Plex thinks that news show is a movie as opposed to a episodic TV series.
Can you do a couple of test recordings with an actual TV series and the other with an actual movie that’s on TV? And see if the correct Library shows up when you set up the recording.
That is correct. The drop down only shows movies and no other library.
I don’t think it is a permission issue as I am the Admin on the system and the only user.
Strange thing is this also happen on Linux ubuntu server I tried this on. That is why I though I would try it on windows but have the same problem.
So I guess I will do a fresh install of the OS and try it again.
Funny thing is on my NAS Device with Plex Server installed the both Libraries work and are visible.
Before you reinstall your OS, you may want to have a look at the XMLTV file you’re giving Plex to ensure shows are episodic. Find one of the ones in question in the .xml file; it should look something like this:
Ok I will have to look at my xml file. It is large and will take time.
If I can not get this working on windows or on Linux I will go back to my NAS device which uses the same .m3u file and xml file and it works on the NAS.
