After a couple of months of crashes and freezing I think I found the problem… When I shut off the TV I have to exit from “Live TV” back to the main menu. When I want to watch tv I have to goto “Live TV” and wait a couple of minutes for the guide to update to the correct time then I can select and watch a show. The guide does not update until a minute or two after it is displayed on screen. If I shut off the TV while plex is still running, (watching a local OTA station) then the only way to get it going again without crashing every minute is to back out of plex, clear the cache on the client, restart plex on the TV , wait till all the info on the home screen is displayed, move to Live TV and select guide. Wait for the guide to display ( It displays the guide at the time the TV was shut off ). After a minute or two the guide updates to the correct time and only then can I select the station I want to watch…
Sooo… Make a long story short… Seems the whole problem is that the program is not reading server time and updating accordingly. Also the client and server are not flushing the cache on exit…
I’m on the same App Version. I don’t use Live TV but I experience the same issue where Plex App either exits to menu, reloads or completely crashes when browsing the menus rapidly or starting a playback. I’m having this same issue with Nvidia Shield, Apple TV 4K and Fire TV Stick (2nd gen). They all behave the same. I really hope Plex pushes out a fix for this soon.
I’m on 1.19.3.2764, CentOS 7, fully patched as of yesterday morning, almost always using Roku Plex Beta clients. Personally, I’ve never observed this sort of behavior, and spend a fair amount of time in LiveTV (IPTV source). I’d be looking at a network time issue, or general networking issues, based on your description.
Has there been any interest in fixing this problem ?? If you do not return to the main menu before shutting off the TV then when you turn the TV on you get nothing but a black screen until the guide updates 2 minutes later…
Is anyone from Plex even on this forum , or is it " Ya pay your money and your on your own !!" If you don’t know how to fix the think then make the code available I’ll fix the stupid thing for NOTHING !!!
