Live TV crashes at 3 minutes when new show starts *Updated*

When watching live TV from the recent channels it does it’s “normal” micro buffer thing but after about 10 to 15 minutes it will go into a blank screen with a buffer and get stuck. This has happened multiple times since 8.23.0.27959. You have to back out of the channel, then reopen it and sometimes it will just be a black screen with audio when reopening. Using hdhomerun, Nvidia Shield, hard wired.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for reporting that. Could you please attach logs and is that an issue that you can consistently replicate?

Thanks

HI sending via pm now. Yes it happens right at the 30 minute mark… my time was off a little.

Thanks, I’ll look into it.

Here is my log from the plex server something about losing the type of media…

Plex Server Version 1.24.3.5033
Plex Client Version 8.23.0.27973

Thanks @redawg

@geosidi - Just tested the Live TV on chrome window 10 and about 15 minutes in it stopped the transcoding cause it said it had no more live consumers. I still had the window open and watching the TV station. its seems to be constant at about 15 minutes before it dies.

Please don’t release this on public build, it’s rough haha.

@geosidi HI so 10 days no beta update then one releases with only one fix. You think this is going to be addressed anytime soon?

Hey @JasonsPlex , this hasn’t been forgotten and it is being looked at.

I’m going to move this fourm to Public Live TV issues now since it’s been released in a public build from beta with the release of 8.24.0:(. Glad I disabled auto update.

Also happening to me. Among MANY other continued Live TV & DVR issues on ALL devices.

As one user stated in the post below they noticed it when upgrading the server not the actual Android client. I noticed it when upgrading my Android client but then again the server updated about the same time. I’m going to try rolling in the server back to 1.24.2.4973. I don’t know if it’s exactly the same issue as they get an error, this is no error, it’s just a constant buffer lock. Also noted it does happen at the 5 to 3 minute mark of every show starting.

LiveTV/DVR is in bad shape, has been for a while. I hope they get it fixed. Their focus is on streaming content so I think it will be a while.

My solution was to move to Tablo. Plex is limited to ripped movies only now.

Good luck!

Yeah this all started when one of the employees decided to make the live TV back-end “better”. Once he released his version of better he just let it go and didn’t follow through with any kind of support after that. Then the CEO doesn’t really give a crap as he doesn’t even respond. Their focus is on streaming revenue, no longer the people that helped fund what Plex is today:(.

So rolling the server back does not fix it for me. Which leads me to believe the issue we’re having is an Android client problem. And that these two issues are two different problems.

There is a crap-ton of people with this issue, myself included. I’m honestly surprised anyone from Plex actually responded to this thread.

Please don’t release this on public build, it’s rough haha.

You must be new here, so let me be the first to say welcome!

If you take a few minutes to read these forums then you’ll see why your comment was amusing. Live TV on Plex hasn’t worked on years and they obviously couldn’t care less.

New  , nope. I was hoping this would not happen like many other things we bring up on beta that get released on public. There really is no point of beta testing because it gets released anyways.
