Live TV from PC server not playing on Shield

G’day guys,

Just bought a Shield and Plex Pass for, primarily, my mums lounge media player.
I have my PC with the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD DVB-T (Australia) tuner running as the server.

When I go to Watch Live TV on my Android tablets and the Local Web Client it all works perfectly. Teletext Subtitles work too which is perfect for my needs.

Unfortunately though when I try watch Live TV on the Shield the server announces “Recording Live TV - Session” and the Shield says “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.”

Recorded TV play back OK.

I tried many restarts and various settings to see if I could find a solution but so far no luck.
I know you will need a log and I downloaded them, but I’m not sure what info you need.

Please let me know what you need to help me fix this.

Same problem here with a WinTV-dualhd DVB-T directly attached to the shield.

I solved this by turning off Automatic Updates and downloading the Android TV version apk and installing over the top.

And now it’s broken again except now it won’t play on the shield or my tablets!
I’m so confused!
What happened from last night to this morning to break it?

Now some are playing on the android tablet but not on the shield again.
I think it’s failing to trigger the Exo player which seems to work. Any way we can force this player to be used?

I’m also getting this error on playing Live TV, but on my Android devices. Looking at the logs from my phone, it’s giving me this error:
