After a client update yesterday on my nvidia shield, the live tv section of the client home page is no longer present. I’ve tried uninstalling the updates on the nvidia shield and reinstalling but it hasn’t helped.
My server is a synology NAS with version 1.13.0.5023 pms. The live tv dvr is showing on the server. I updated my nvidia shield today to client version 7.0.1.5398 and the live tv is not showing up on the client software. When I switch servers, I use a pc server for when transcoding is needed, the live tv shows for a second then disappears. I use an HD Homerun Quattro and Duo for live TV. Live tv was working fine before this update. Any ideas?
No one has any idea what could be causing this? Is there some way I can get in touch with Plex Support besides this forum? Getting frustrated with all of the problems I’ve had to deal with to get this running properly.
Try force stopping the app then restarting it.
No change. Live TV pops up initially on opening or switching servers then disappears.
Logs please.
And to be clear, you did check from Plex Web and the DVR/LiveTV is there?

Yes, it is there. In fact, if I click over fast enough when changing servers and select live tv, I can watch live tv on the shield. I just have to do it really quick and it is gone if I go back to the main client window. I’ll get the logs.

For some reason, both of my PMS are showing as remote connections when I access them on the same LAN. Could this be causing this issue? How would I fix this? I have a Nighthawk R7000 router which doesn’t appear to allow me to access any DNS rebind settings that most suggest cause this problem.
Ours is doing the same thing it’s hooked up to our home server trying to switch over and cut the cord but it will not load life TV like The person said
I was able to access live tv for a few hours last night but it is gone again this morning.
What is the status on this issue? My wife is losing patience with me on this experiment.
Ok, I get the distinct feeling I’m being ghosted on this issue. Would someone just communicate with me and let me know what is going on? If you can’t fix the issue, fine, I’ll move on. If you are working on it, great, I’ll wait. Just let me know please!
Your server log shows several errors. I can’t be sure, but I think there may be issue with your network.

That supports my guess that there is a network issue on your end.
Can you also provide me the log from the Android app on your Shield? I would like to see if the Shield also reports issues.
Another possibility. Is your Shield using WiFi and did your Shield update to Oreo? There is a known issue with that update where it causes the device to randomly lose Wifi connection. This will need an update from NVidia to fix. This doesn’t explain the errors in your PMS log, but those could be unrelated.
The ‘remote’ connection issue is only showing from one computer connected by Ethernet. I checked other computers and wifi devices and they are all showing the servers as ‘nearby’. All devices show the live tv option and can play live tv from plex except for my two nvidia shields. Both Nvidia Shields are having the same problem.
Both of my shields are wired Ethernet and neither have upgraded to Oreo. I’ll work on getting the nvidia logs.
I can’t find any log files in the Nvidia Shield or any way to produce them. Can you just tell me the possible issues with my network? I’ve moved my server from behind a switch to directly connected to my router and it made no difference. My PMS that is on a Windows computer is behind two switches and acts the same as the server connected directly to the router. Both Nvidia Shields are having the problem and they are both behind different switches. It would have to be some settings in my router causing this issue. I don’t play with those at all. The only thing I’ve changed on those is to give my security cameras static IP addresses but Plex worked for over a month with those settings before deciding to crap out on me.
I took the HDHR duo out of the network since it is older and I thought it might be causing problems. No change. Next I moved the HDHR Quatro to another port on my living room switch and changed Ethernet cables. Everything is working right now. It worked for a bit last night too so I’m not 100% confident this fixed the issue but we will see. If it does fix it then Plex was the only program affected by the faulty switch port. I checked the Ethernet cable and it was good so it had to have been the port. All other programs were still able to lock onto and display channels from the tuner.
I’m not seeing live TV on either of my shield TVs at all after the update. I do see it on other devices connected to the same server. It was working well until this last update.

Mine was doing the same thing. It ended up being a bad port on the switch my hd homerun was plugged into. Other devices could access the HDHR, even plex on other devices, but plex on my nvidia shield wasn’t seeing it. Plex on the shield must be more sensitive to some issues than other platforms.
I would recommend moving your HDHR to different ports, switches, cables to make sure you don’t have the same issue.
Having same issue on 4 shields, can not believe it is a network issue. I run two servers one is DS918+ and the other a 2015 shield. Same result with either server. Have to believe it is a PLEX client issue. Like you Web based works fine. If you need to just watch Live TV not look at the recording guide, you can add another USER, and set the “Restrictions” for that user that allows to watch live tv. I can’t figure out how to set the filter for the admin what I assume is that the latest update somehow set that “Restrictions” to off for the ADMIN.
