i have 16gb 2018 shield setup as a PMS and am having issues with live tv feature. My plex library is on 2TB removable storage and movies on it play just fine with no issues. Only have issues while using live tv feature on a different client (iphone/ipad), the live tv will stop the playback exactly 15mins (gives weak signal warning 1st) after it starts, this is very repeatable, if i pause the playback at 14min mark and resume, the playback continues for another 15mins on the clock. I have the temp transcoder pointing to the 2TB drive and still have the same issue. Have played with the DVR settings turning the transcoder feature on/off to no avail. i even attached a 32gb adoptable storage flash drive and still have the same issue. Seems like i am filling up some storage location on the “internal drive”, is there any solution to this? have other people experienced similar issues? PLease help!!
Can you grab the logs right after you get weak signal error.

BTW, forgot to mention, if i record a show to watch later (saved to the 2TB removable storage drive), it records fine and no interruptions occur at the 15min interval, its only happens while watching live…not sure if that helps…
Accurately shield Live TV stops in 15 ~ 20 minutes. (PC , ipad , iphone …)
omit other functions shield Live TV stable version is 1.12.3.4973
All subsequent versions will stop in 20 minutes.

is anyone else having issues watching live tv for more than 15-20mins at a time on different client (apple tv, ios, etc.) with Shield as your PMS. if someone has a solution, please HELP!!

updated PMS to 1.13.5.5291, no difference at all. Live TV still stops right around 15min mark. This needs to be fixed, won’t be able to watch any football…cord cutting NOT WORKING so far!!!
I’ve just tried to replicate this, and I’ve had two streams (h264, and MPEG2) running for 30 minutes. Are you able to try on the latest Plex Pass server version?

I get the issue as well. Using Shield pro 2015 model as the PMS and live TV playback stops after 13 - 15mins. I noticed that it happens mostly on the following clients: Apple TV 4th generation and a Roku Device. These are devices that require the live tv stream to be transcoded. My fire TV devices do a direct stream but i havent tested them long enough to determine if the issue occurs or not. For my Roku and apple TV, it happens all the time and i have stopped playing live TV from both devices.
I’m using a Shield 2017 Pro, and I was testing on the web client (which also needs transcoding). If there are any specific steps people can give to replicate, it’d be much appreciated.

Please see 1st comment on thread and also logs attached in the Jul 24 comment. Issue happens on iOS or Apple TV client with using Nvidia shield 16gb as PMS. I try watching live TV thru the Apple TV client and it crashes repeatedly every 13-15mins once the session starts.
I carried out an experiment with my fire TV devices: Fire TV 3 Pendant, Fire TV 1 box, Fire TV 2 box and this issue does not occur on any of the fire TV devices. I was also able to run 2 concurrent streams of the same channel from two of my fire TV boxes and it ran for over two hours without any issues. I checked my HD home run device and it reported that only one tuner was in use at that time(I have HD Homerun Quattro with 4 tuners) and so this implied that the PMS server on the shield was buffering the stream from one tuner and transmitting to both devices at the same time. This worked perfectly. Like i stated earlier, the fire tv devices does a direct stream of the live stream. I then tried this experiment on my Apple TV and as K1kohli reported, the streaming abruptly ends after 13 - 15 mins. I tried this several times on both the Roku and Apple TV and this always happens. The Apple TV and the Roku device requires the PMS to transcode the live tv stream. I have hardware transcoding turned on at the server. Without that option turned on, the stream stutters unless i tune into a channel that transmits in 720p. For channels that transmit in 1080p, hardware transcoding needs to be turned. With hardware transcoding turned on, the stream plays nicely until after about 13 - 15 mins and then ends abruptly. I hope this helps in determining the cause of the issue. I now only use my fire TV devices to stream live TV.
