I have the HD homerun connected to my Nvida shield, ever since its been advertised that you can remotely access live TV on your Andriod app its been nothing but a waste, whenever you access live TV it works for a bit then you get a message saying weak signal and frezzees then unfrezzes then stops altogether, whats the point off having that feature if its constantly frezzing. all the other videos i have work fine its the live TV, that has the issue, the reason i purchased plex pass life time was because of the features of live TV, but you can’t watch any programmes without it frezzing constantly please fix this.
You may not be looking in the right place for your solution. I have a HD homerun and use it with Plex with no problems. I have been at the other end of the country (UK) and watched live TV via Plex on some fairly slow internet connections and had the occasional buffering but no dropouts. The buffering amounted to less than a minute in an hours viewing and only happened at a couple of locations. Other locations were perfect. I was viewing on laptop and android phone.
Weak signal implies the HD Homerun has a weak signal not Plex I’d have thought. Does it work OK with the homerun app on your LAN (where the HDHR is located)?
Good luck sorting it out.
Hi Robert
When on LAN it works flawlessly there is no issues, I can access it on my phone everything works absolutely fine but when accessing it remotely its nothing but pain it will work fine for a few minutes then its stops working and buffers then works and stops.
To your question HD homerun having weak signal can cause the issue isn’t correct because it works fine on my LAN without any issues and also the signal that shows up on the plex app on channels indicate 100% signal when accessing via remotely, not sure where it can go wrong
Only other thing I can think of then is upload speed. Does video in your library/recordings play fine remotely? have you set the upload speed limit in Plex to match your internet upload speed? Plex will transcode for a slow connection. Beyond that I’m out of ideas.
There is only limited support here with Plex. As you have had a reply most people will ignore this thread. If you can’t resolve this I’d suggest a new topic and hope someone more knowledgeable than me replies
Hi Robert,
Thanks for your help, everything seems to work fine remotely including my library/recordings, its only live TV that has the issue of dropouts works fine for a bit then freezes unfreezes and freezes it’s so annoying
One last thought… You mention the shield at the start. I started with the shield as my Plex server but had quite a few problems with it. I’ve long since moved on to having the server on a computer (was freenas and now windows 10) and not had the same problems. Is your server on the shield? and if it is why not make a second server on a computer and see how that works?
Yes my server is on a shield, I don’t have any issues accessing videos/recordings in my library only issue is with LIVE TV, I would of thought if there was an issue with the Shield I would have had issues with all my contents.
Thanks for looking into this for me appreciate your help
