Can’t watch live TV on iPad using new Plex App

My version of Plex on my iPad will not let me watch live TV. I am using app version 2025.15.0 (1053). When I try to play a channel on live tv I get the following error message. Note this used to work fine and works fine on my android phone.

It doesn’t like your server name, any punctuation or special characters in it?

I get the very same error message. Macbook pro app works fine and Android app no issues. I can view live tv outside of local network but in my network on ipad app. Same version. I have tried everything. Movies and tv shows work fine.

Sounds like their is a fix in the next release.

I found the solution. I never had this issue until this new version. But, it is trying to access a url that end in .plex.direct. I am using pfSense and apparently it doesn’t like DNS rebinding which plex uses. The solution is in https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/.

But for pfSense you have to add the following to the DNS resolver:

server:
private-domain: "plex.direct"

After doing this I can now watch live tv on my ipad plex app.

What is pfsense? I don’t believe I have this. Why does plex tv work with other devices and not my iPad? Can you give a step by step solution if there is one. Again, I use MBP and Android phone and they work fine. The issue is only on my iPad.

pfsense is an advanced software used as a router. If you don’t know what it is then you are not using it. I am sorry, I can’t provide you any assistance. I am lucky I was able to find a solution for my issue. I would recommend opening a new topic and see if support responds.

While I can watch live tv on my ipad now, the guide is blank and I am not really happy with the new app. This “upgrade” has been a huge disappointment.

Same problem here! No family members able to watch TV after app iOS upgrade - works on browser and PC

PLEX - Don’t you do thorough testing before pushing these “upgrades” I don’t have any special setup my Live TV has been working for many years.
