Steps to reproduce:

Play LiveTV station broadcasting in 1080i (edit: or interlaced station…480i etc.) not using HW transcode (direct play/direct stream etc.)

While it is playing, use playback setting change to use HW transcode (I used 720p HD High for logs).
Outcome: Playback stops and player returns to TV guide and displays Playback Error message. See below.
Expected outcome: Play changes to playback setting set.
Reproducibility: Always.
And:
- Play Live TV 1080i station with HW transcode.
Outcome: Playback is very choppy.
Expected outcome: Playback is smooth.
Reproducibility: Always.
Notes: If I start playing back the same TV station initially w/ HW transcode (with Plex for Mac or Plex Web) playback works but the video is choppy…so choppy that it’s quite unpleasant to watch.
Using HW transcode with similar/same setting on different clients works great. For example, on my LG TV, Android, and Roku doing the steps above works great, doesn’t stop the player, and playback is smooth.
If I turn off HW transcode, everything works with no errors.
If I play a 720p station everything works great.
