Transcoder failures - unable to watch certain programmes

Issue description

I’m seeing some strange errors when trying to play some content, which will not play.

The following errors are when trying to play a series (I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!) that was recorded through a HDHomeRun:

[Transcoder] [h264 @ 0xd92a00] mmco: unref short failure

[Transcoder] [h264 @ 0xd92a00] number of reference frames (0+5) exceeds max (4; probably corrupt input), discarding one

When I try to play the content, it just gets stuck in a never-ending spin.

Other content plays fine. This series was also playing absolutely fine up until recently, and I have reason to believe the issues started when I enabled Detect commercials and mark for skip for it.

Non-recorded content plays fine.

I’ve attached my Server logs as well.

I’m guessing this is related:

Are you forcing transcode on the Shield? That’s when I’ve seen issues (required for plex web).

Oh, strange.

I’m not running the server on the shield, and the issue happens whether I’m transcoding or not, on all devices I’ve tried.

I also tried downgrading my server and it made no difference.

It could be a different issue.

Appreciate the response/heads up regardless.
