Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: don’t know where to find this - I run Plex on multiple Rokus
This summer I had instances of Plex not being able to play live TV remotely on my Rokus - I chalked those issues up to remote access issues. However since early November I’ve been on my local Internet with 100mbps service and am encountering increasing issues of live tv playback failure. I get messages that say something like “unable to play live tv - weak signal - check your antenna or tuner” OR I get a “recording stopped” message even though I was watching (or trying to watch) live tv and no recording was in process. It may take several attempts to watch a channel before live tv finally plays.
My server is a HP Win10 i3 desktop. I always watch via Roku (multlple devices) with closed captions enabled. I have a homerun connect duo and prime 3 connected to Summit broadband - no TV antenna.
I also have issues with some channels (AMC & WE in particular) being unwatchable because of pixelating. HDhomerun playback did not have the same issue. I sent the homerun logs to Silicon Dust who said homerun is getting a perfect signal from Summit and there is no packet loss between the homerun & Plex server.
Anyone have any ideas about the cause of my live tv playback issues?
One more question - I was thinking of buying a Synology DS218+ and using that for my Plex server rather than the HP computer. Any thoughts on whether I would have more issues with the NAS than I’m having with the computer?
