Live TV programming guide?

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314-a0bfb8370

Brand new to Plex. Purchased Plex Pass today.

I have a HDHomeRun Flex 4K. I successfully setup the Plex DVR. The HDHomeRun is recognized and the channel list is populated. But the Guide Data just says “Unknown Airing” for all channels. I selected “Refresh Guide” in the DVR settings and the activity said thousands of listings downloaded, but nothing shows in the Guide Data.

I also setup Plex Media Server on a Synology, and I see the identical behavior there - no guide data despite refreshing.

What am I doing wrong? I am uploading the logs.

Update: I do see some guide data now, but the main channels (ABC, NBC, CBS) just show “Unknown Airing”. Examples of channels that do show guide data are PBS, ION, CW.

Unfortunately the missing guide data pertains to the channels I want the most.

Never mind. After a few hours, the guide data showed up for the missing channels.

Would be curious to understand why it took so long.

Thank you.

That is good, looking at your logs there were no hard EPG related issues.

You didn’t ask for this but after the holidays you may want to look into a few things.

1.) Using ChuckPA’s database repair tool to export/import the database, may improve how long it took to update all the epg metadata. GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases

2.) Your network addressing is using a non-compliant RFC1918 address, Plex is getting a little more stringent in this area.

3.) Your install location, you moved everything including the exe’s to D:\ which has been known to give unexplained results. There are how-to’s on moving the data part.

4.) The old tv agents are retiring soon and you have non-compliant naming. I know, you heard that for 4 years but it when it does it wont work anymore

Thank you for the informative response.

Regarding your points:

  1. Yes, I’m aware that the IPs are non-compliant with RFC1918. Unfortunately there are historical reasons for that that go back at least 50 years. I don’t see why Plex would care, and I hope they don’t change that.

  2. All my programs are installed to D:. C: is for the operating system only. Why would Plex care where the program is installed?

  3. Yes, I have non-compliant naming because I have many years of saved videos that predate my purchase of Plex. It would be a huge effort to rename everything. Again, I hope Plex is cognizant of the impact of changes here.
