The new feature looks great on iOS. The problem I am having is that the PMS is trying to re-transcode the live stream that is already being transcoded by the tuner(HD Homerun Extend). In the DVR settings I can adjust the quality of the feed coming from the tuner but no matter what I select, the PMS is re-transcoding it before sending it to the client. My old NAS can’t handle that much transcoding and my iPhone 7 can handle the direct feed.

The swap to MKV for re transcoding and ditching .TS recorded format has killed subtitles as well.
When i am recording i am transcoding have seen 6 streams so far even though its only recording two channels…
Because of interlacing and how picky the iOS player is we are forced to transcode on that platform for v1. We’re actively working through the edge cases which causes this and the hope is to enable as many as possible for Direct Play.
I don’t understand why things are transcoding. If I record a show, the transcoded (hardware by the HDHomeRun Extend, nothing being changed by Plex) transcoded version is capable of direct play. If I am Live viewing, it re-transcodes.
Am I missing something? I’m having trouble separating the two instances.
