Transcoding live TV isn't working

Running PMS on dedicated machine with Windows 10 Pro
Intel i7-7700T processor at 2.90 GHz
8GB of RAM
HDHomeRun Prime for LiveTV and DVR

Live stream crashes after roughly 3-5 seconds of playback. Occurs remotely and on internal home network. Occurs with HD and SD streams.

If I stream directly from the HDHomeRun app instead of Plex, I get a perfect stream (unfortunately I can’t use that app remotely). I can also stream from EMBY with no issues (unfortunately EMBY only finds my SD channels).

Logs appear to show that transcoding is failing. I’ve tried tweaking the transcoding settings in everyway shape and form. I’ve looked into some of the errors and some of they may have to do with a corrupt source, but I don’t understand how that could be possible when it works from other apps. As much as I’d love to blame Comcast, I don’t think that’s the issue here.

I have a co-worker who runs roughly the same setup and he’s able to stream fine. Any suggestions or is anyone else experiencing these issues?

What version of PMS are you currently running?
What client/version are you attempting to stream Live TV with?

@rodgerzeisler

PMS Version: 1.9.1.4272
Clients / version: Android Oreo (6.5.1.2049), iPhone 6s (it’s my wife’s phone so I don’t have the version handy), as well as the web (Chrome)

Have you upgraded to the latest versions of the clients? I specifically remember someone having Live TV issues and just by upgrading the client, it all worked. I only have experience with the iPhone and Chrome. What kind of hardware are you running Chrome on? Is it the current release of Chrome?

@rodgerzeisler

Android client was updated today and still experiences the same issue

Chrome version is Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)which was also just updated today and experiences the same issue.

This is definitely a server issue and not a client issue or HDHomerun issue.

@CourtimusMaximus

Are you using the experimental transcoding feature on the HDHomeRun?

@CourtimusMaximus better off using kodi and the hdhomerun plugin. The tvcard part of this program is buggy and has been since 1.7 over 20 threads just on the dvr part alone.

@rodgerzeisler

I have tried turning it on and off. To my knowledge that should only affect the DVR and not live sessions.

@nicksphone0161

I may resort to just using EMBY for some live TV until Plex gets their act together. Everything needs improvement; performance, interface, & features.
