Smashing Good News! After just a little over a month of utter aggravation, someone (either Plex or the people they get the feed from) has fixed the player crashing problem!
FINALLY!!! A BIG THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER IS RESPONSIBLE!
I have been watching several channels that failed regularly, and they have been stable so far for about 2 days or so. I didn’t want to say something too early, but it looks like the problem has been fixed, at long last! 
Thanks to whoever is responsible for the fix. Streaming Live TV from Plex now seems to work properly! Yay!
Now, if only the providers would stop airing the same stupid ads multiple times per break, it would become entirely watchable! I realize you folks at Plex do not have any control over this.
