Plex’s Live TV feature appears to be unable to select between multiple Closed Caption streams when they are present. In this specific case, the local Telemundo affiliate puts English translations on CC2, with Spanish subtitles on CC1. These streams are viewable through the HDHomeRun software and can be selected as expected. Plex however shows only one CC stream.
What is even more odd is that after selecting a different CC stream in the HomeRun software, the change lingers for some time when accessing the same channel via Plex. However, the captions are decoded with errors, with short semi-random text appended to the end of the caption (e.g. “How do I look?huhuhu”) Closing the channel and reopening it will revert the caption selection to default/CC1, which will decode without errors.
