Local Assets for Individual Episodes

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4392
Player Version#: 4.54.5

I noticed that Plex added support for Local Assets in TV Shows and Episodes, so I though I would give this a try. I am trying add extra’s for individual episodes. I am using Plex article,
Local Files for TV Show Trailers and Extras | Plex Support. In this instance, I’m trying to add a deleted scene to the episode.
Here is a screenshot of my file structure for the episode in question:

I have tried refreshing the metadata. Nothing occurs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the same problem, but I have the issues generating metadata for the trailers since version 1.22.3.4392. I use the official Docker version for my unraid system.

after updating the docker Plex container to the latest version 1.22.3.4392, I noticed trailers that were existing already do work, but when I add new movies no trailers where detected.
I have tried both the -trailer naming convention als creating a subdirectory in named Trailers, as the instructions state. Both options do not work anymore for me.

Hope this will get fixed soon, meanwhile:
Question: is there an easy way to downgrade from this version in Docker to the pervious?

Regards, Richard

There’s some dependencies when it comes to local extras for tv-shows:

  1. your library needs to be configured to use the Plex TV Series agent
  2. for episode-level extras, the base of the file name must be an exact match of the actual episode file (that looks ok in your example).
  3. while the extras might be recognized alright, not all clients are able to display them on all levels. As of today…
    • all clients should be able to display your local extras for the tv-show level
    • the Apple TV client show episode-level extras as well
    • only Android (mobile) and iOS clients will display extras on all levels (show, season, episode).

Otherwise… as you stated… extras should appear once you do a metadata refresh for the show/episode.

Your solution works my episode features. I was trying find them on the web client. (Windows-Based-PC).

Now I’m interested why they are not showing on the Season-level. Here is what I have:

While these features seem to be set at the Season-level, they show at the TV Show-level:

I don’t see these features on the Season-Level on my iPhone, but I do see my Episode-Level material. Is Season-Level even possible? The article has Show-level and Season-level explained in the same section.

I want to add all my special features to plex without cluttering them all in one section (Special).

Thanks

Try to stick as closely to the naming schema as possible.
I’m e.g. not sure about those episode folders – sometimes using a 2-digit season number in your season folder can help.

Yeah, that doesn’t seem to work. Hopefully, this is still being rolled out. Season-Level extra’s would definitely help me separate a lot of these features.

Hopefully, this is still being rolled out. (Since it only seems to work on Android and iOS as full-feature right now)

Nope… the feature is there and working. As stated above, it strongly depends on your files being accurately organized/named.

If your files got recognized to the wrong tier (e.g. as show extra instead of season extra)…
I’ve seen some trouble where users had been using some 3rd party agent that added items as extras (sometimes showing at different/wrong levels).

Make sure to refresh the show/season/episode metadata for the extras to be updated.

Here’s 2 examples for local extras on season / episode levels.

Okay, still having issues. Here is how my folder structure looks:

Now, I’m wondering if there is an issue with my settings for this Library. Here is how my settings look:

I apologize for all the screenshots.

One thing I noticed, there is no option to refresh metadata at the season-level, but there is at Show and episode-levels. Not sure if this important or not.

Thanks

Just refresh at the show level.
If you renamed the underlying folder structure you might want/need to actually do a library scan beforehand to ensure Plex associates those extras with the show.

Yeah, I tried that. No sure where I can go from here.

I fixed my issue. I had been creating individual folders for each episode. When I just put all the episode video files in the season folder it works.

Thanks
