Local Content on Plex Media Player on Windows 10?

Server Version#: 4.65.1
Player Version#: 2.58.0.1076

hello,

i want to watch content stored in the pc (either in videos folder or in an external hard drive) using the plex media player, but i am not able to find the option to enable local content (as i do on my android phone app).

i have searched for info in the articles, but i was not successful in finding any relevant info.

is it actually possible? and in case it is, where can i find the info?

thank you, best regards,

You can’t. PMP is a “Plex client”, not a media player.
As such it needs a Plex server from which it can stream content.

ah! i get lost in the differentiation you make between the two elements, but thats because of my lack of technical knowledge.

bottom line, it is not possible.
thanks for the answer!

Well, you could install a Plex server onto your local machine as well.
But that is kinda overkill, if simply installing VLC will do just fine.

I struggle with ONE server, can’t imagine having to deal with two of them
thanks!
