Hi, I have installed plex on my ps4, but the only way I can see to play my video files is if I connect my external hard drive to my pc and stream them to the ps4 via that. What I would like to do is just have my hard drive connected direct to the ps4 and play them via the plex app. I know I can use the standard ps4 media player to do this, but that doesn’t have all the metadata and info about my videos. Is there any way I can play local files on the ps4 plex app instead of having to stream them from the computer my plex media server is on? Thanks.

you need a server to host them, the playstion plex is just a client

Plex is a client/server media server. This means you need the server (your PC) to server the files to the client (your PS4). If you want to use the files directly on your PS4 you’ll need to use the built in media player as that is not a function of Plex.
