Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522
Player Version#: 4.145.1
This started a few versions ago.
I have local extras in the proper subdirectories (Featurettes, etc) and Plex finds them. But when I optimized the movie, then they disappear.
If I delete the optimized versions, they come back.
I pre-optimized my movies into 2 versions (8Mbps and 4Mbps) and the optimized versions are stored in a separate directory (movies are in /media/movies, optimized versions are in /media/plex-optimized/movies).
I’ve tried putting the extras in the same folder as the movie but with the proper suffix, but that doesn’t work either.
Configure a separate folder to store the optimizations into.
If you place the optimized versions into the same folder as the original video, then Plex will ignore local extras.
The above has an additional benefit: you can configure access permissions for Plex server to be “read-only” in your regular media folders.
Only the optimization target folders and/or DVR target folders need “write” privileges for Plex server. That way you have extra security against accidental deletion of your original media files – either by misuse, malicious intent, or software bugs in Plex.
Yes I have them separated. Movies are in /media/movies and the optimized versions are in /media/plex-optimized/movies. And in this case, the extras aren’t being deleted, but simply removed from the movie’s page in the app (web and android). As with @ChrisKegel, if I delete the optimized versions (all of them), then the extras appear.
This happened somtime earlier this year, but I can’t pinpoint when.
I’m on version 1.41.7 now and tried to go downgrade back to 1.40 but I couldn’t access the media server when I did that.
