Local Extras for TV Shows?

Dittos on “give it up already.” I’ve fired Plex due to this and others failings of the product. I prefer using simple ole VLC over Plex these days. At least it shows me all the sub-folder content and doesn’t constantly claim my “server isn’t powerful enough” when playing the exact same .mkv files that Plex chokes on. As Cartman says, “Screw you guys, I’m going home.”

That was another reason I gave up on it… what the hell with not being able to keep up on the video. I have a good Synology NAS and everything in my house is hardwired. Zero reason to transcode anything. I have full blow BDR rips as big as 40gig that Kodi has absolutely no problem playing at full bit rate.

Please? Currently I’m just deleting extras because they’re such a pain to deal with for TV shows.

Why is it that I can add as many extras of any type that I want to movies, but completely lack the ability to do the same for Season 5 of Star Trek?

That seems ridiculous.

Because you should be using Kodi. I kind of used both at one time but reasons like this and others caused me to abandon Plex a while back.
Every time I get a notification for this thread I can’t believe people don’t just simply walk away.

My SmartTV has a Plex app built in that makes integration with Plex extremely easy. Kodi does not, Id have to wire my TV to my computer with a graphics type cord (VGA or HDMI). With Plex I just need the ethernet cord its already wired with.

Just seems like this is the type of thing that would be simple enough to add as it already exists in some capacity.

That’s what makes it so frustrating!!

As for your tv… I don’t know what you have but try doing some research for it. There may be a way to get Kodi on it.
I use an Nvidia Shield on my tv. Native Kodi support and a million other uses…

Hey everyone!..This is my first EVER post on a forum, but I wanted to point everyone to something that might answer everyones prayers here!

I just delved into this very same problem with my extensive TV collection and found that there is (at least 1 that I use now) a solution for getting extras into your plex tv shows!

Use this link and follow the instructions…

If you have more questions, then please just google it extensively and I’m sure you will find that you can do what you need/want to!

The ONLY concession that I haven’t found a way around, is that I needed to rename my “Extras” folders (that kodi likes, with the help of the extras plugin app) to something like “Scenes” or “Behind the Scenes” or “Trailers” or others that the indicate…

***Special note too! If any of the extras that you have, even if you rename the directory, the plex scapers might try to match them as episodes (If the are named something like “behind the scenes - Breaking Bad Season 3 Episode 3.mp4”)…This will probably result in showing this episode as having a few versions you can play instead of properly tagging it as an extra.

Here is the link to start everyone down the path to a better, cleaner plex database!

(I doubt i will ever come back to this thread (no offense), so if anyone has questions for me, I may not see them. So, good luck!)

Wow! Took a bit of fiddling around to get it working but does seem to work well on a couple shows I’ve tested with. Thanks!

+1, bump, like, flag, anything to get SOME response…

+1 bump from me too.

Plex management! People have been asking for this for at least 5 years.

WHY IS THIS SO HARD?

+1 bump for me also.

I really enjoy Plex over Netflix when I watch movies because of the was I am able to add by bluray extras.

It really is a must have feature for TV shows too.

Link extras to TV Shows

Bonus: be able to link them to seasons and episodes too

Thanks.

I’ve gone ahead and changed this topic from a question to a feature request. Please vote at the top if you are interested in this.

Actually, there is already a request for that, so please go vote there.
