Local Host missing on PC with server installed

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973

I was having issues with localhost reporting unreachable. I thought I would be able to remove it and add it again because there was some text stating that if I removed the server it would be automatically added back. Well it didn’t do that. I tried reinstalling PMS thinking it would be seen as a new install ad add it back. I have remote access working fine, and I never really use the localhost option when I’m at home because I just manually play a movie via MPC with MadVr and all that. I decided recently I wanted to just try using the local host option for other devices around the house with the Plex app on them. I never attached my custom library locations to the local host, only the remote server. I went to configure that for the first time and noticed it was unreachable. Thats what started all of this(me deleting the local host). I have seen the issues with people having something similar, but just to avoid any confusion, the moral of this wordy post is that I dont even see “localhost” in Plex at all any more, I only see my configured remote server, which is working fine. Before if I clicked my remote server in the upper left it would have a drop down to change to local host…That is gone now.

Thanks

Scroll down on the left side and click on ‘More…’

LOL…Thanks but I should have mentioned I know my way around at least the basics of Plex, and networking for the most part. This however I cannot find. I do know about the newer more streamlined UI since the last few updates. So yes, I noticed weeks ago the new need to click “more” to expand the UI to see more options. So I have everything open on the left and only see my server and under that my Libraries for that server. Then below that is “Plex” and all its extras and plugins. Before I also had a dropdown option for my server that allowed me to select my named server that is used for remote access and also to select “local host”. That is now gone. I have tried repairing PMS through the newest PMS .exe from Plex. I however did not uninstall and completely reinstall PMS.

Maybe the locally installed server is not running (or it has crashed) or it is not signed into your plex.tv account anymore.

Verify that it is running by inspecting the Windows Task Manager and take a look at the location where the server logs are stored.

It may also be helpful to open an ‘incognito’(!) bowser tab/window and point it to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web

I think you are still missing my question. As stated in my previous post. I REMOVED local host. I did. I clicked on it because it was just spinning trying to get a connection, there was an option to “remove server”. There was a pop up saying something similar to “if you delete this server it will be automatically re-added”. So I deleted it, thinking there would be a clear option to add it back once it was gone, but I haven’t seen one. Task manager has like 4 or so Plex services running(Plex Media Server, Plex Tuner Service, Plex Update service, Plex relay). I also have not had any issue accessing the web app from the URL you gave(also from Https://localhost…etc…), so not sure why you sent that link. So to try to sum up all of this into a single statement… I do not have “localhost” ANYWHERE in the online web app because I deleted it, The PMS is running, and I assume I’m signed into the server with my account because I see all of my content on the server UI remotely.

This is EVERYthing I see on the left. I used to be able to click my server name DCMPlex and it would drop down and I could select “localhost”…not there now.

I never used the localhost before so I never set up libraries for it. I wanted to try to use it now locally but I obviously dont even see it anymore to configure it. This is where all this is stemming from.

Thanks

‘Removing the server’ has it soft-deleted from your account.
Normally, it should indeed be restored automatically, as soon as you start it up again.
Have you ever shut down the server with its task tray icon? If you didn’t, do it now. Then wait a few minutes and start it back up.

If you did indeed shut down the server before, you might have to perform this procedure to bring it back into your account: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

I don’t know how else to put this. If this is actually a real person and not some automated ticketing system. … ANY article or link from your site that is already available, I have already seen or tried. That is the whole reason I’m contacting support, because none of that worked. Again if this is a real person could you please ask someone about this issue instead of just sending links on a list and repeating things that are already available on your site…but to reply you your reply – Yes, I have restarted PMS many times, and my PC obviously, this thread alone has been going on for over a week, you really thing I havent rebooted? If you read my other post you would have seen that I even repair the entire installation which in turn also reboots the server…come on man…really?

Also that link doesn’t even apply to my issue. That is for if you are being told you are locked out…I’m not locked out!!. Localhost IS GONE…not there…invisible…however else you want to put it…so If its not there, it can’t tell me I’m locked out.

This procedure is very much applicable to your issue and may be able to solve it (or at least shine a light on what is going on with your machine).

I’m Having the same issue. I followed the instructions clearing the registry items updated to the latest and still having issues. If i roll back to 1.17 it works like a charm. The server is on the Same Desktop as i’m trying to view it.
It shows up on the android apps but not when viewing through a web browser

So I deleted the 4 entries via Regedit. All this did was make me claim the server again, I had done this before by simply signing out of the server and then signing into the web app and it prompted me to claim it. Didn’t work…Picture attached. Just below DCMPLEX there used to be “localhost”. Still not there.

Then locate the log files of your local server instance. zip up the whole folder and drag it into the message editor of this forum.

I just completely uninstalled ANYthing Plex on my PC. Every registry entry, deleted every folder and file…Reinstalled the newest PMS and PLEX app just to be sure. Still local host is nowhere to be found…Where are these log files?..
