Recently I’ve noticed that a lot of my extras are not showing. It’s random… some movies show them, some show some and many show none. I have no idea what changed but I’m not sure where to start troubleshooting. The folder file structure is laid out as Move (YYYY) folder, and inside is the movie and a bunch of extra category folders. Inside go those folders are my extras.
I’m on server 1.85.0.4071-21128b56 on my mac. Clients are we, iOS, iPad, appletv. All of them have problems. How do i troubleshoot this?
Try a quick “Refresh Metadata” for the movie, see if the files show up. I’ve been recently experimenting with local extras for shows, and was surprised to see that refresh metadata (or was it Analyze?) that triggered the appearance of extras, not a file scan.
If that doesn’t work, let’s look at your folder structure, make sure you are using the Plex approved ™ method of extras, just in case.
Wow. Refresh metadata worked! Now… how can I do that for all the movies? Also is this a bug? Shouldn’t the extras be scanned automatically? And why is it randomly losing the extras data?
I chose a movie. No country for old men.
It’s in a folder by the same name.
There are two copies of the movie. 1080p and 4k
I always split apart to their own separate entries in the grid
So I chose the 1080p version and refreshed metadata
It then removed all extras.
Now the 4k version had all the extras.
I refreshed that versions metadata.
Now plex recombined both movies into a single entry.
So I had to split apart and of course each movie had the same info and tags and labels and poster. Had to renter the different tags and labels and poster for the 4k version.
