Extras not loading in PMS

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I can’t get my extras to show up in the Plex MS. I have tried nesting the file within a folder and also leaving it in the main folder, but that doesn’t work. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have Local Media Assets enabled. See the support article linked below.

Then refresh the metadata for the movie. Using Plex Web, from the library page, mouse over the movie cover art, click on the three vertical dots in lower right corner, choose Refresh Metadata.

If that does not work, try using either subfolders or -Extra_Type, but not both. Also, take the movie name out of the extra. It is not needed.

Example:

/Final Destination (2000) <-- or 2013 whichever is correct
   /Final Destination (2000).m4v
   /Behind The Scenes
      /Documentary.m4v
   /Deleted Scenes
      /Deleted 1.m4v
      /Deleted 2.m4v
      /Deleted 3.m4v
      /Interview.m4v

Thanks for the ideas, but they didn’t work unfortunately. Here is an updated version of the files and what I see in Plex:

What version of PMS are you running and what agent are you using for this movie library?

Version 4.34.4 Here’s a screenshot of the agent (I believe I have set up correctly)

I would need to know the setting for the specific library, it may be better if you just sent me the logs files.

First make sure you have Enable Plex Media Server debug logging checked in Settings -> General. Then go to the movie and run a Refresh Metadata on it, when that’s done go to Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Download logs and grab that zip and post it here.

Okay - sounds good. Here you go:
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-23_08-42-10.zip (4.9 MB)

Thanks, I was able to get it to work perfectly on my side using the exact same structure as in your first screenshot. I’m not entirely sure why it’s not working for you.

Could you try remove the entire “Final Destination” folder out of your main movie folder, scan the library and wait for it to finish then move the movie back to your movies folder and scan again and see if that helps at all. Honestly a bit stumped as to why it’s not showing up for you.

Super strange! I just tried that and it didn’t work. Is there a lag possibly? Should wait longer to see if the extras will just show up?

Do you know if there are any work arounds you would suggest? Thanks for your help!

PMS 1.20.3.3483 on Synology DS918+, using new movie agent.

I tested on my system. Everything shows up correctly. I tested both with and without subfolders. For the test w/o subfolders, I used the same naming as in your second list (1-deleted, etc). I’m using MKVs, not M4Vs, but that should not make a difference.

Does the directory /Volumes/DM Passport/Movies/Final Destination Extras/ still exist? If so, move it to a location not visible to the Plex scanners (out of the /Volumes/DM Passport/Movies/ directory).

Then Plex Dance the movie and extras.

The extras were in a non-standard location, /Volumes/DM Passport/Movies/Final Destination Extras/.
They have since been moved and renamed a few times.

There might be some incorrect information in the Plex database. The Plex Dance clears out existing information for the movie, and starts over, like you’re adding the it for the first time.

Your screenshot in post 4 shows “Local Media Assets (Movies)” Selected and first in the list… for “Personal Media.” Is it the same under Plex Movie (Legacy)/Plex Movie?

Thank you for the suggestion! That didn’t work either sadly, but I might just move my extras into a separate library instead. Might be easier. Thanks for all your help!

Just an idea: What happens if you remove “Trailer” of the description and replace it with something else? (naming the file “TV spot-trailer” for example) and Plex dancing this movie folder?

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago and tried for hours desperately to add a external trailer video file. After a couple of Plex Dances, server restarts (Synology DS 218+) and a lot of frustration I renamed it and finally got it to work.
