Hi,
It looks like a lot of people are expecting Plex’s “Managed Users” feature to work like the below suggestion and I know the only reason I got Plex Pass was for this feature.
Plex Pass users should have the option to select how I want my managed users to sign into my Plex server.
When I am only my local network I should only be asked which Managed User I want to sign in as and to enter the pin. For some reason it is asking me to Sign into a Plex.tv account? Why would I want to do this just to access my local media. Apparently it’s for security purposes but we are on my local network so I know who is on there and it completely defeats the object of security if I have to log into my main admin Plex.tv account just so I can then log my guest into their managed user account?
By all means if I am accessing my Plex Server from outside my network, ask for a plex.tv login for further security; but when I am on my local network I just want to sign into my Plex server using the managed users feature with JUST a pin to account and no Plex.tv login.
I thought this was how the managed users feature worked in the first place but apparently not.
Summary:
Logging into my plex server Locally: Have the option to setup Plex so the only authenication you need on the local network is your managed user name and PIN.
Logging in my plex server remotely via the internet: How it’s setup currently. When you first access the server ask for a Plex.tv login, then once logged in and confirmed they have access to my server ask for the managed user details.
In theory this is how it should have been setup from the start no?
THanks
