I have the same problem. My friends can’t access anymore my pms since the update to this version on my synology. I haven’t done any modification to my router or synology settings.
do you happen to have a vpn running? i recently added one to my network but i never had the problem when i first started it. just wondering if you have one too
update on my problem. i have factory reset my router and reinstall centos7 and plex media server. the problem is still not salved… i am out of ideas now if that didn’t solve the problem i don’t know what is. is there a problem with build 1.15.1.710?
my server shows as Nearby. i did some looking on the forums but i couldn’t really come up with a clear answer of what that means. one guy says that its a local server not being accessed locally and another guy says that is what it should say for local. then at the same time the remote access says it doesn’t have access to the internet but i can remote stream just fine. never changed anything before any of this happened so i don’t know what changed

When the server shows as “nearby” it means you have have the direct connection with all ports open which are needed.
The very next thing to examine is the Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced and see if any limits are in place.
Lastly, look at the client playback settings. The client makes the initial request. If the server can comply with the client’s request, it will. Therefore, if the client requests a bitrate typical of “remote” then the server will provide it.
The DEBUG log files are really needed to see what is happening with the client request and start of playback. This will tell us what we need to know.

i have been able to get direct streams going since the reinstall of everything. didn’t tell me what caused the problem or how it was fixed. maybe some weird firewalld update with centos7. it wasn’t something i looked into because it was working before. my router settings are all back to the way they were before the problem and i haven’t changed anything with the plex app other the trying secure connections. as the problem is fixed and i reset PMS i guess we cant proceed with the debug logs. i’ll definitely keep an eye on it and if anything happens ill be sure to update
Your router is only a switch when you’re direct to the client unless the player is on a different subnet.
That said, if both are 100+ Mbps, there is no reason for you to have anything less than full quality.
Please just recreate the logs and I will look. If it’s a client setting, we will see it.
plex logs
these are the logs from the web interface on the same network.
do you need them from other players like plex app from windows or my android tv?
I need the server logs… Not the client thanks.
Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs.
Please do make certain they are DEBUG logs and not VERBOSE logs (Settings - Server - General – Disable Verbose, Enable Debug – then recreate before capturing logs.
it seems to be giving me a dns error for the servers address cannot be found
A DNS error for what? Can I see? I can’t help with something I can’t see.
when i try to download the Server logs via the plex app it brings up a browser window and gives me this error
" 192-168-1-2.e9429f0ceced4fe09bbf7cf9604d5976.plex.direct ’s server IP address could not be found."
You have DNS rebinding enabled on your modem/router/DNS server (which is usually the router).
In it, you need to create an exception for the private domain plex.direct
Apply that and everything will work because it will be “Nearby”
If it won’t let you add the rule, consider turning it off.
server logs
ok here are the server logs
We will need to wait until after all the media is done being scanned.
Your logs are currently full, detailing all the episode details and thumbnail files being generated.
After Scanning is complete, Please generate the ZIP again
Attach the ZIP here, not upload to Google. I can delete the ZIP file once I’ve retrieved it.
just the scanning or the scanning and thumbnail/chapter generation?
Yes… That’s what your logs were filled with. There might have been other activity but I could not discern which was FFMPEG thumbnail generation from playback FFMPEG activity
ok that will take a while… week or two. on another note do you know if its possible to hardlink the metadata from plex to a network drive? its pretty rough having to generate all that data over again
