I’ve been using plex for years with my previous ISP with no issues, I recently switched and it’s been one problem after the other and I’m at my wits end with this.
The initial issue was that I couldn’t use plex as a local server, it would just show up on my PS5 as currently unavailable ‘retry to connect’
So I gave in and enabled remote access, this allows me to connect however the picture is awful, i’ve gone into my server settings and changed everything to original, even tried the auto quality feature and nothing works, I just switched back on my old broadband and the picture quality is great.
Does anyone have any idea why I can’t setup local server with my new ISP?
I suggest you review
(a) the network related settings in your server and apps → there could still be some references to your old network / local IP addresses based on your old router
(b) review the new home network setup; sometimes routers/access points will assign different subnets to different connection types ; this way your server and PS5 might have ended up in different subnets and therefore no longer seeing each other
If your router has DNS rebind protection, you’ll need to add an exception for plex.direct — though I don’t think that’s causing your client to consider the server remote.
