I plugged in a USB3 extHDD formatted NTFS (with a HFS+ partition also) but the Xbox One app could not see this volume - only the Libraries on my PC, on the network.
Can the Xbox One verison of Plex be made to work with local storage / local libraries, connected via USB to the Xbox itself?
No, plex clients only use whats on the plex server.

The Plex client is not a media player, it is a media streamer, so it needs to stream from some source. It is like asking if you can watch your local files from within NetFlix.
Thank you. I wrongly assumed that either Player or Server could be installed and used on Xbox One.
Sounds like it's only going to be Player.
Appreciate the info. My Plex Server machine is not keeping up (CPU) so I was hoping for an alternative to upgrading the PC. Would've been all too easy!
