Locked Title and Artist Metadata Being Overwritten

Otto’s right, unfortunately. When they rewrote the Plex Music scanner last year, they made a ton of improvements in its accuracy (trust me - it’s a major improvement over the old scanner). Unfortunately, and paradoxically IMO, it also became even more dependent on the folder/file structure. It makes no sense, but it is so.

I have noticed that the scanner is significantly improved. Interesting to know its strict dependence on the folder/file structure and certainly important information that I’ve just learned today. Thanks for all of your supporting information!

Unfortunately, this is not so. I have all my music tagged and I have to correct after any refresh for one band.

Plex keeps changing the artist name on albums

Server Version#: 4.34.3 Player Version#: I’ve seen a similar post which was solved but there is no mention of how. I have repeatedly told Plex that the band ‘Fat Man in the Bath Tub’ is Little Feat but it renames it again. The tagging and folder names are consistent and I believe I have it looking locally first as I tag all my music with Band and Album titles even if there is no track info. It renames Studio and Live recordings. How can I stop this happening?

All my Albums are In Artist\Album\Numbered Track format. Still plex renames with a band that does not exist. It is fictional and a track name.

And even being tagged as Artist = Little Feat it is renamed to Fat Man in the Bath Tub
