It is extremely annoying that every time Plex updates then I have to rearrange or rePin my Library. I have Plex on 4 home TVs, and two managed accounts. Why can’t I setup the Home screen for each use on the server and it be that way every time that user logs in no matter what TV or device? I get a managed user calling me up and saying that all the libraries are missing again. It is extremely frustrating taking the time to go to each device and repin and reorder my libraries constantly.
I’m finding this change to be annoying and frustrating, as well. It wasn’t always this way of having to constantly reconfigure my display settings. Now of recent (that I started noticing), it seems every time I sign in for a new session, I have to re-pin my library folders and hide Plex’s own channels (not interested in the music or live tv and such).
And that’s not the end of it. I have to go through each of the library folders to reset how the content is displayed as in table view and adding the date viewed (so the list shows the media in order of last viewed (which I do refer to the dates and time stamps).
I can’t find anything to save those display preferences. I remember an old version of Plex would allow us to save preferences of home page (which the recent versions have streamlined those to pinned or unpinned but that preference is now not persistent).
I thought maybe Plex must have shifted the storing of the display preference for premium users, but I can’t find any such terms for premium status.
Surely Plex didn’t plan the constant reverting to the default display for each new session?
That’s strange. The only time I have ever had to reset the home page is when I reset my account password for the recent breach. When I signed all my devices out, upon login the libraries were reset to default. Before - and since then - I have not had to rearrange my side-bar pins.
I use managed accounts as sub-accounts of my main account that owns my server. I update my server all the time. I assume the Plex app on my Shield (primary use) updates regularly. The Plex-For-Windows app updates regularly, and doesn’t rearrange my pins either.
(I am not bragging that I am not having this issue. I am just posting what apps I use and my config, in hopes that it can provide info that might help narrow down what the issue might be for you.)
I would like the server to be the one providing the client customization (pins) when they log in, but since Plex clients are not based on any one server (you could be invited to two or three or dozens of servers and have none of your own), I don’t see how they COULD implement a server-hosted client config.
