This genial new UI has me very annoyed. This is Plex running on a Roku device. Started an episode of a show from my library. Just trying to navigate to it was a chore but finally got the show going. I wanted to pause midway, but there seems to be no way to pause, fast-forward, or rewind a show once it is going. Am I missing something or did the geniuses that wrote this festering turd of a UI forget this bit of functionality altogether?
The second issue (what an understatement!) is that when the show finally ended, I tried to delete it. And that is where all button functionality ended. Now, I can’t play anything. All buttons are frozen and essentially rending Plex useless. Nothing works from now. Yes, you can navigate in the library but selecting a different show is as far as I can go.
Selecting HOME from the top menu does nothing. The UI won’t let me select a show. It’s like the thing is stuck on the top menu bar and does not allow anything to happen. I finally got to the “Are youy sure you want to exit Plex?” prompt. Two choices show up. Switch User (default) and Yes, Exit. I want to exit but the down arrow on the remote won’t let me select that! WTF!!!
Wonderful! There is no way out! I cannot exit back to the Roku app. I suppose from here, I need to do a hard reset of the Roku device? But no. Hitting the Home button on the app takes me back to Roku Home. I select the Plex app again, and sure enough, it’s still locked up.
To the PLEX folks: what kind of BS app is this? No QA, no testing, nothing. What a sorry excuse for an app this has turned into…
