Hi. Since I installed Plex-Media-Server-1.10.1.4561 on my Plex Server (Windows Server 2012 R2) I am not able to login from i.e. my Samsung 8000 TV or the webclient.
After a while it suddenly works. So for the webclient it is not a problem but for the TV. I am not able to wath on TV until I manually enter the plex server.
If I want to login it looks loke this:
First only my account shows up - not the others I created:
After I have entered the pin my movie show up bot I am not logged in.
Same at the TV. Remote Access is also enabled and workig.
Anyone a clue or the same issue? My server is also a teamspeak and a minecraft server for - so it has access to the internet and I am able to open a website on the server.
Hi joggig. I have exactly the same issue as you. Started two days ago.
When i try to login from any of my local devices i get the same issue. One in twenty times it logs in fine and shows me all my accounts the rest of the time it doesnt and shows me a grey icon and im not logged in to the account.
The other thing i have noticed is that if i login remotely or from the plex website i can access the server logged in.
The issue is only within the local network. This started two days ago on Friday.
I have downgraded the server. Reinstalled it. Created a new blank server. removed all plex files including registry files and reinstalled. The issue persists. It goes so far as when im setting up a new server to tell me plex is down for maintenance then it works again after 60 or so seconds and lets me create the account.
It seems to be a delayed login issue from local computers and the computer actually hosting the plex server.
Another example of the issue is when i try to login to the plex server from one of the samsung tvs. It says server is offline and keeps insisting its offline. Around 5 minuets later it logs in by itself.
I have an 80/8mb line and have restarted the routers and models, all Ubiquiti equipment and the issue persists.
I was going mad thinking it was only me. at least now i know im not alone.
thank you for the answer, I think this is then related to the latest update of plex. maybe the logon process is running into some kind of timeout until if falls back to a different methode for the authentication. this could explain why it is working after some time. but I am only guessing.
So hopefully one of the next updates will solve this
This is not related only to the latest update. i have downgraded and still faced the same issue. downgraded to three older versions. Also the login doesnt last. it logs me out after some time. Seems this must be a problem with there authentication servers. hopefully Monday will bring a fix when they are back in the office.
Same issue here. Sometimes its fine for a couple hours then login doesnt really work anymore. Those problems exposed alot of issues with the “single point of failure” login plex has switched to, i dont like it. I want my server to run no matter the state of plex’s own servers.
Maybe i should run a dual setup with emby, just in case…
same here, if i use Plex player for windows, i think there is a problem with Player or latest server update, because i can access my server from my mobile or using Plex (UWP), and same problem happen only with plex player for windows sometimes is working sometimes is not and i have no problems logging in from web interface plex.tv same problem if i try to log in though server ip
I think it was the new IPv6 Support implemented into PMS which is causing TCP/IP translation / DNS issues.
As for the moment - probably because of the vast amount of problems issued by the community - they seem to have deactivated it or did a configuration fallback. For me it’s working as usual in the past. For now!
Please also ensure that you have deactivated IPv6 protocol on your Server (PMS PC/whatever). Please deactivate (uncheck) Internet protocol TCP/IPv6 in your Ethernet/Network settings unless you really have to use it. But I don’t think you really must have it activated, 'cause there are very rare to none services out there that do only allow TCP/IPv6 without TCP/IPv4 support.
Seems to be working automagically again. Just tried it out and the tv client and my notebook client are both working again without changing something in my cnfiguration. Thanks to the plex team!
It happens here mostly after a Plex client version update (Android TV on Nvidia Shield). Then its fine until the next one. Note I am on beta track if that matters (looks like it doesn’t based on replies above)
