This is starting to crop up, they are having authentication issues. I got to the point I dis-associated my account with my server… now i cant claim the server because their authentication methods are crap. This kind of storm event keeps happening repeatedly, If the plex servers cant deal with the load, they need to have a bypass option. That of course would mean releasing the reign of control … so that will happen in … oh never. I’m just waiting when they kick everyone off and just try to monitize the plex product with that crackle crap.
Fun or disturbing fact - not only its not possible to “claim” my server any more, I can’t log in on the Plex website or even get a new download from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More
I get “Oops, looks like we can’t retrieve downloads at this time, please return later.” message on the website. Tried with different browsers, flushed cookies etc. but no change.
On other computers in my house on the same network the website shows up normal. What the f***?
Same issue. Can’t get anything to work on the PC the server is running on, including downloads. On my laptop it can see the server but says I don’t have access, and on the roku tv app everything works perfectly fine.
I downloaded the newest version of Server on my laptop and moved it over the server and installed it, still not able to do anything though. Any ideas on a fix?
I was able to fix it by doing a clean install of Windows again. Its not the ideal fix, but I think it was a combination of Windows latest optional update and PMS update last week. Right after I updated both, I got the issue. No matter what I did (all same steps we all took in this thread) it would not solve the issue.
I wish Plex team would have responded and helped before I did my clean install, but Windows 10 have made it easier now to do so.
I attempted an install of Windows 10 and it didn’t change anything, but I did a direct upgrade from 7 to 10 so it might have carried over whatever is causing the issues
Editing hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and removing my entries for Plex fixed this, as pointed out in the couple other threads for this issue. Turns out my old VPN (PIA), I entered these into the hosts file to bypass VPN with Plex.
