So, I’m act work, but don’t get off for a few hours and this question is buggin me more than the patience I have.
I’m a recent lifetime Plex Pass user and I created a Managed account for the little one.
Everything I’ve read states I have to login first, before he can access his account.
So, I have to login in my account on his tablet/TV, enter my pin, and then hand off the controller/tablet/remote back to him?!
Every time he wants to watch something on Plex?
You create a managed user for him with his own pin, not yours. You don’t want him having admin access, haha. The first time an app is used, it has to be claimed by your Plex Server. After that, he can log in using his pin.

Note: In order to actually use a Managed User, you need to first sign into the Plex app as a regular/full member of the Home. Once you do so, you can then switch to the Managed User in supported apps.
Just the first time, to claim the client. After that, he logs in using his pin.
Awesome. Do you know if it is possible to make it so he doesn’t have a pin?
Pretty sure you have to have a pin.
Actually, your kid doesn’t need a pin.
But you need one on your admin account, to prevent your managed users from switching to your level.
you can do so here https://plex.tv/users/edit
The easiest way to get around all of this is to:
- Create a free plex account for him/her.
- Invite him/her to your server using the email account used when you created the free plex account.
- Setup access for him/her under the user account settings to manage the content available for them to watch.
This way they only log into their free account and you don’t have to worry about logging in yourself. You can control everything yourself.
This is the easiest solution and there is no limit to the number of free plex accounts you can create and or invite to your server. I’ve used this for all of my extended family and even some of my coworkers.
Good luck!

Did all that…and the one thing you forget to mention is that he doesn’t get all the benefits of my plex pass.
He has a tablet and can only watch a minute or so of media…

You can invite his normal plex account into your Plex Home again.
But then ‘Fast User Switching’ is active again and you need to have a PIN on your account, to prevent him switching to your access level.

I did that, and that’s how I know he’s only able to watch a minute or so of media. He doesn’t get the benefits of my plex pass. Plex for Android isn’t free off the bat. Managed User with me having a pin is the way to go.

Adding his account to your Plex Home is supposed to grant him the benefits of your Plex Pass.
Let him sign out of the app and afterwards back in.
Or let thim ‘quit’ the app, so it reloads from scratch.
Both actions are supposed to make the app contact plex.tv, so it can get informed of the changed status of the user account.
Last question, one has no benefit over the other at this point, correct?
PIN for the main account will be needed on both occasions, correct?
All of my users have a free plex account and there are no restrictions on use of my server. I just invited them from “Friends” tab and they have no issues. Not sure why you would have a limit on viewing time. I’ve never experienced that.

When these users are using the ‘mobile’ Plex apps, they either need to buy them individually.
Or they join your Plex Home. By doing this, they inherit the right from your Plex Pass to use these apps for free.
