Player Version#: 8.6.0 (Regression starting from 8.1.2, it was working before)

For some months, I have noticed playback failures while trying to play videos with subtitle enabled and the “convert automatically” mode.
It’s a regression since 8.1.2, older versions like 8.1.1 are working just fine. The changelog of 8.1.2 is somehow related to the “convert automatically” mode
On the server, I see the normal transcoding process in progress but nothing on the android app, just the loading animation forever.
Once I disable subtitles, it plays jut fine. It’s also working if I switch to “Original quality” or a forced quality like 720p.
I also noticed if I change settings to “burn subtitles” by default, it fixes the problem. But it’s not really an option as I can’t control my users Android devices and it’s more expensive server side.
I tested on an Nvidia shield and a phone (Oneplus 3) : same problem.
On Plex web, it’s working fine.
Server side, I tested with multiple environments and version : Debian 10 (KVM VM, P2000 passthrough), Arch (bare metal with a decent cpu) and even Windows.
All of them have the same problem, it’s definitely not a server side problem.
I attached logs from the server and the android app (Shield).
