Looking for a small TV with Plex App support?

My 24" Panasonic TV is no longer able to run the Plex App since a recent update. I was looking for new TV for the kitchen, i.e. 32" or smaller that would run the Plex app without the need for a fire stick etc. The list of support TV’s, is restrictive.

Thankfully, Steve of Richer Sounds Chester (UK) advised me of a 32" smart TV that does the job.

It’s an LG 32LM6300 at £249. This uses web O.S. which is the same for larger TV’s. Richer sounds even undercut the John Lewis price for the same TV of £212, selling it to me for £202.

Plex seems to work well on this quad core processor model. It seems really good value!

Stop Looking - it’ll only lead to pain and suffering.

Buy a good little TV.
Buy a device to plug into it - and run the Plex App on that.

Note:
A FireTV Stick is nice enough, but the Plex App on it is history. <—Android - Nuff said.

I use Roku Ultras ($65 Amazon Refurbs - if you can shop at Amazon).
I would not recommend a Roku Stick - any.

This 32" TCL runs Android.
£177.00

Strike one: Android
Strike two: Under-powered Fischer Price innards - lead to pain and suffering
Strike three: a 32 inch tv in my kitchen is going to be covered with 25% of what I cook - in moments… my cooking can be described as fun and tasty chaos. <—a 19" TV mounted to the ceiling may work - may not on chili day…lol

I can relate. Usually have to clean the screen every few days. Have a secondary kitchen in the basement and was able to score a 2nd hand cheap Dynex tv with one HDMI slot, but no USB port. The bezel is horrendous BUT the upside is that the speakers that are installed in the unit pack more punch than say any other newer slimmer models from vizio or cheaper manufacturers.

Got a Roku stick attached with Power and Volume Up/Down capabilities. Both Locast and Plex provide quick access to local tv without having a coaxial line having to be fed through walls.

This Dynex model luckily has 1080p support but when I’ve done my search, some smaller tv models only are made with 720p support (both smart and dumb tv models included), no higher. If 4k resolutions are acceptable to be added to small phone screens, then at the very least some brands like vizio should add 1080 and 4k as default resolutions for small tv models too. It’s a shame because ideally a 19 inch would be perfect in this spot.

When I was at Sam’s Club I’ve seen the Samsung Galaxy view on display and REALLY wanted that as a replacement but I couldn’t see myself spending $300-$400 for it at the time for such a small screen. You figure, a lot of smart TV’s 32inch and larger cost $200-$300. It’s about 19 inches, runs android, and can run android apps.

Kitchen can have different meaning. For a lot of us it’s more than the cooking area. More like a kitchen/family room.

If Family Shows up in My Kitchen - they might go in the dish… I shave with a straight razor - and know how to sharpen a knife…
