install on first then second server, only second will show in plex. install other way around and same thing.
TVS-463 and TS-453Be
Did you use the procedure to migrate/move an existing installation to setup your second server? This will also copy the original server’s machine identifier… hence making Plex consider both servers are the same device.
I’m not an expert with QNAPs but you should be able to manually remove those machine identifier references from the second server’s configuration (e.g. a preferences.xml file in the server data directory) — make sure to stop the server when doing such changes; on restarting, the server should create a new machine identifier.
I looked at your Plex.tv account and see both servers.
I see the following:
- TVS-463 at 192.168.1.40, last seen 10 hours ago
- TS-453BE at 192.168.1.60, last seen 10 hours ago
- Windows at 192.168.1.228, last seen 16 hours ago
My suggestion for getting these both visible again:
- Close your web browser (all windows / tabs)
- Reopen it
- Open an incognito / private window
- Now open the server by LAN IP ( http://192.168.1.60:32400/web - or .40:32400/web )
- In private mode, if it’s unclaimed, you’ll be able to claim it again.
(Plex/web is easily confused when there are multiple servers on the same LAN and one isn’t claimed)
was able to claim both servers but the last one updated with latest update is the one showing plus the windows server. has only happened with latest update but if I try previous it doesn’t help. have never had this problem before and have had both running together for a number of years. bit of a pain if I want to change from TV to Movies. the only other way to fix it is to map all the drives but that is not what Plex is for.
Thanks
Steve
