Help please. Yesterday there was some sort of glitch and over 3/4 of my files (in the thousands) are no longer recognized in Plex from my external drive. I need someone to please tell me how to restore and please don’t post another very unclear article topic from plex about simply replacing the file. I need help before I start searching for artwork AGAIN and retagging.
What is the value of the following setting on your server?
Settings -> Library -> Empty trash automatically after every scan
If it is unchecked, and you are able to restore the media files to their original locations, all your associated metadata should be preserved. If it is checked, and the media was unavailable for some reason while a library scan was performed, the associated metadata will have been deleted.
If the latter, you may still be able to recover some data (your tags, watched status, etc…) by restoring a database from before the “glitch” occurred. See this article for more information:
